Michael Rasmussen’s “Email Promos Exposed” Video Series: How to Write Killer Email Promos That Get Results!

Have you ever been faced with the task of having to write an email promotion to your list, and
then realized that you didn’t know what to say or how to say it?

Michael Rasmussen’s new video course “Email Promos Exposed” promises to solve that problem
for you by walking you through the actual process of creating killer email promos step-by-step.

I decided to see if Michael’s videos live up to their promise by trying them out myself. Here’s
what I found:

Overall Quality
The first thing I noticed when I opened up the first video was the stunning production quality.
He used Camtasia Studio for the production, which is now the industry standard for creating
high-quality screen capture video products. The audio is near studio quality, and the graphics
are very professional. These videos were made by someone who KNOWS what he’s doing. Well done!

I also liked how Michael divided the videos up by section, and then again by sub-section. For
example, one video is all about the subject line, and then there are different parts of that video
that each covers a certain area of crafting a killer subject line.

THE ACTUAL VIDEOS
Here’s a brief summary of each video. Obviously, it’s impossible to list every single thing here,
but I want you to get a feel for what each one covered, and how well it covered it.

VIDEO 1 – INTRODUCTION

This video served as an introduction to the whole course. You get to see a picture of Michael in
his everyday life, and he establishes his credibility right up front by talking about some
of his massive successes online. He even provides proof of credibility by displaying two checks in
the amount of $50,000 and $25,000 which prove that, when it comes to the subject of making
money with email promos, he knows his stuff.

This is a good lesson for anyone to get. Whenever you’re teaching people how to do something, it’s good to establish your credibility up front, so that there’s no doubt about whether or not you’re qualified to talk about the subject. Most product developers either skip or minimize this step.

VIDEO 2 – BEFORE YOU WRITE THE PROMO

This video talks about some things that no other marketer has bothered to mention. You’ll learn
things like:

  • The mindset you need in order to write a killer promo
  • The different tools you need before you get started 
  • How to keep your emails laser-focused 

How to create an outline that practically writes the email for you.

This was a fantastic video and did a good job of kicking things off.

VIDEO 3 – THE SUBJECT LINE

I liked this video because it talked about one of MY biggest weaknesses when it comes to writing email promos… the subject line. The subject line is a confusing topic because nobody’s 100% sure what the best tactics are.

Michael breaks it down and reveals:

  •  The biggest secret for writing a subject line that makes people insanely curious
  •  Techniques for personalizing the subject line.
  •  Mistakes to avoid when using personalization.

I was surprised to find that I was making some of the mistakes that Michael mentioned in the video but now I know better.

VIDEO 4 – THE OPENING

This is where a lot of people slack off when writing their emails. Michael talks about how
important it is to create an opening that is conversational, and then reveals techniques and
examples on how to do that.

He also reveals:

  •  How to get people to keep reading your email once they’ve opened it.
  •  How to make your opening interesting.
  •  Mistakes to avoid when creating your first few paragraphs.

VIDEO 5 – THE BODY COPY

This is one of the “meatiest” portions of the course because it reveals techniques that are
not widely discussed on the forums, blogs, and in most eBooks. He talks about the importance of
keeping your body copy tight and relevant and then reveals how you can do that. You’ll also
learn:

  •  How to write powerful bullets that make people curious and want to find out more.
  •  Simple formatting tricks for making your body copy easy to read.
  •  The secret of “bucket brigade copy” and how to use it in your email promos to force people to keep reading.

VIDEO 6 – THE CALL TO ACTION

This is where a lot of people wimp out in their email promos. They start out strong, but when it
comes time to ask the reader to click the link and take action, they don’t know what to say.
Michael talks about some of his favorite techniques for making that happen, and also
reveals:

  • The “magic question” to ask yourself that will make you’re close much more powerful.
  • The secret of the “unanswered question” and why handling this is a surefire way to get people to act right away.
  • The structure of a powerful close.
  • Mistakes people make when creating their close.

VIDEO 7 – CREATING AN EFFECTIVE P.S.

Some people say that the P.S. is one of the most important parts of the email because it is often the one thing that gets people to click the link at the end. In this video, Michael talks about:

  • Why you should including a P.S. at the end of your email.
  • The 4 different kinds of P.S.’s you can use (this section was a real eye-opener for me).

VIDEO 8 – COMMON MISTAKES PEOPLE MAKE

I loved this video because it showed me some mistakes that I was making that I wasn’t even
aware of. Unless you’re a seasoned pro, you’re probably guilty of some of the things that
Michael talks about in this video as well, and that’s why it’s so valuable. I’ve shaved years
off my learning curve because now I can avoid some of the costly mistakes that I was bound to
make in the learning process.

VIDEO 9 – HOW TO CREATE FOLLOW-UP EMAIL PROMOTIONS

This video alone is going to make me a lot of money. Why? Because I used to only send out one
email promo for each affiliate promotion I was doing. Michael showed me in this video how
important it is to send a follow-up promotion, and he showed me exactly how to do it. He covered things like:

  • The psychology of follow-up email promos.
  • The 2 main types of follow-up promos that make the most money.
  • How to overcome readers’ objections to your follow up emails.
  • The 2 most common mistakes people make when writing follow-ups and how to avoid them.

VIDEO 10 – HOW TO WRITE BACK END EMAIL PROMOTIONS

Every marketing guru out there says that the REAL money is on the back end. I’d have to agree with them, but the problem is… most people have no idea how to set up a back-end system that makes money. This video will teach you how to set up an automated back-end that’s loaded with killer promos that make you lots of cash on autopilot.

He reveals things like:

  • The big difference between regular and back-end email promos.
  • How to prepare a back-end promotion sequence.
  • Common mistakes people make when creating back-end email promos.

VIDEO 11 – CREATING AFFILIATE EMAIL PROMOTIONS

This could be the most important video of the entire package for a lot of people because most people email their list to promote other people’s products as an affiliate. Let’s face it, if you
only have 3 products, can you really afford to only email your list 3 times a year? They’ll get
bored hearing about the same old products over and over again. This video sheds some light on
how to create killer affiliate promos.

Michael reveals things like:

  • The two main types of affiliate promos.
  • What makes affiliate promos different than regular promos (and why ignoring this huge secret could cost you big money).
  • Michael’s favorite tactics for creating affiliate promos that no one else is doing.
  • 3 different ways to add scarcity to your affiliate promos (this is the most important
    section of the video, so make sure you watch it over and over again).

CONCLUSION

As you can see, Email Promos Exposed really packs a lot of punch! Most of the courses out there
offer only watered down, weak content. Not this one! These videos are going on my “A-list” for a
long time.

I’ve already watched them twice, and plan on reviewing them every couple months to make sure
that I have the principals, techniques, and tactics burned into my mind.

Day #30: Email List Building Challenge!

Day #30 Assignment: Look at all your results and determine which method worked the best for you, tweak your campaigns if needed, and continue moving forward.

See What Methods Worked Best for You

Every single business is going to be different. So, what works best for you may not work best for another online business owner when it comes to list building. Now, I would encourage you to review your stats from your Facebook ads, your Bing Ads, your solo ads, your video views, your blog or website traffic, and your email list size most importantly!

By now on day 30 you should have seen an increase in your email list size! The key thing to keep in mind is a lot of this content you made like the videos, blog posts, and infographics will continue to send you traffic months and even years into the future.

It is also important that you check your Facebook ads and Bing ads to determine if you want to continue running those or if you want to cancel them or pause them. If you are seeing consistent subscribers and revenue, then I would advise keeping them going forward.

Give yourself a great pat on the back because you made it through 30 days of marketing your landing page! You can see that it was not that bad! So now you need to focus on continuing this!

Important Next Steps

Now that you have made it through the 30 days and started building your email list it is important that you continue adding new email subscribers. Stay consistent with sending traffic to your squeeze page.

Your email list is the lifeblood of your online business. So never stop building it. Also, do not forget to email your new list. The worst thing you can do is build an email list, and then get scared about promoting to them, or to forget that altogether.

Send relevant affiliate products, send them your new content like videos or blog posts, do webinars with them, sell them your products, and keep scaling your business up!

Just stay consistent, don’t quit, and don’t give up! You will enjoy the benefits that come with having a larger email list!

Today’s traffic strategy is another repeat, but it is one of my favorites! That is to create another content piece in the form of a blog post or article. You can again refer to the list of content ideas made on day #18.

Then create your post based on one of these. If you want to have some real fun on this final day you could run a Facebook live on your topic, send it to www.rev.com for transcription, and then make the transcription your blog post.

The key is that you work hard to get more content that your audience wants to be posted and shared online through the social media channels.

By now you should be in the habit of this, and it is a great habit to be in the constant flow of creating content that engages with your audience. you will find over time your traffic will continue to increase dramatically.

Today’s traffic strategy is great for those of you that are new to list building and for those that already have a more established list you may choose to skip this and set up a solo ad instead.

This strategy is to do an email ad swap! So that means you send an email to your list with a link to our ad swap partner’s squeeze page, and in exchange, they do the same thing.

It’s a great way to cross promote, and it does work effectively for building an email list. There is a network of people that do ad swaps at this website www.safe-swaps.com.

What is Ad swapping and why Should You Ad Swap?
Swapping allows you to gain exposure to other targeted markets and taking advantage of the marketing efforts of another person. Ad swapping is normally a free way to generate your traffic and build your email list quickly. Safe-Swaps automates the majority of the tedious functions involved with ad swapping.

Another way to find ad swap partners is to locate people that send emails in your niche market by checking out their blogs or websites to see if they have an email opt-in form. If they do you can discuss the possibility of doing a swap with them. Ths is especially popular if your niche is outside of Internet marketing.

Today we have a new traffic strategy that you can learn and implement beyond the 30 days as you prefer. This is to create an infographic that builds your credibility up, and drives people back to your squeeze page.

An infographic is a carefully created web graphic that contains information. In a nutshell, it is a creative way to display content to your audience. They are very popular, and get a lot of pins and looks on Pinterest, Facebook, Twitter, and even Instagram.

  • You cannot overlook it as this method can be a great source of traffic to your squeeze page and can lead to more email subscribers.

Alright: There two ways you can easily create infographics

There two ways you can easily create infographics:

  1. is, of course, to outsource it to www.fiverr.com  Just go there and search for “infographics”, and browse the available gigs people are offering.
  2.  is, to use a free web-based graphics tool at www.canva.com You can create more than just infographics here, but a variety of web graphics for free. (This is a powerful tool to have in your arsenal.)

As far as the content, you place on the graphic just look at the listicles and blog posts with top 10 lists you have made. In fact, to make things easier you could easily convert any of the previous articles or blog posts you have done into an infographic!

It’s a fun process, and if you don’t like graphics creation outsource it! Once the infographic is made get it out there onto Pinterest for sure on the appropriate marketing boards, post it to your Facebook and Twitter following, and if you have Instagram this would be a great place to share it too your audience!

Day #26 Assignment: Choose one of your preferred traffic generation methods, and do that.

Today you choose one of the preferred traffic methods you have already completed. For today you can set up a new solo ad, do a Facebook live, create a new video, write a new blog post, create, and write a press release, set up a new Facebook ad, set up another Bing ad, etc.

Basically, do whatever you prefer! The key thing is that you do something that drives the targeted visitor to your squeeze page so you keep generating new email subscribers.

Again, the key to traffic is consistency! As you may have noticed I am consistent in reminding you of this fact.

Day#25 Assignment:  Find a coupon code and set up a paid advertisement on Bing Ads to your squeeze page. This is a great platform to test your paid advertising skills.

Today’s assignment is to set up a paid with Bing Ads that sends people straight to your squeeze page to get email options. I have chosen Bing for you because they are little more forgiving of people using paid ads for lead generating than Google Adwords.

Bing also is a great platform to run paid ads on because their clicks have a lower cost. With Bing Ads, you can also advertise simultaneously on the Yahoo Search engine as well.

I would recommend looking for a coupon code if you are new to advertising with Bing Ads as you can oftentimes find a coupon that will get you between $50 and $100 or more in free advertising credits.

  • At SEOBook.com they have a comprehensive list of coupon codes for various PPC(pay-per-click search engines).

You can alternatively do a Google search for “Bing Ads coupons code” (or A Bing search as well) to find some great options for you. It is worth the few minutes because $50 to $100 in free and credits are literally like free money, plus it gives you the ability to get your paid campaign working effectively so you can maximize your return on investment.

When you set up your campaign you will want to follow the steps, the layout and create a campaign. Just focus on targeting long tail keywords. This means keywords that are more specific.

If someone is looking for “dog training” as keyword phrase that is targeted, but if they are looking for “dog training tips” or “dog training advice” they are a little more interested in putting their name in for your lead magnet (i.e., opt-in-from). Now it is time to follow the steps on Bing Ads and create your first Ad. Once you get your ad live I would suggest logging in frequently over the first 24 hours to see how it is going for you.

Remember, if you are more comfortable doing s selfie video than you could do that instead of with a PowerPoint.

After you create the video you will upload it to YouTube, Facebook, and then submit to the usual social media channels. By now your views and traffic should be [icking up. You can also embed this video from YouTUbe in the blog post you made to make your content standout to the search engines and help you with SEO.
